Lee Blessing's award winning play Eleemosynary, directed by William
Aitken, is the story of three generations of exceptional women struggling
for independence, individuality, and most importantly respect.
Linda High portrays Dorothea Westbrook, the matriarch of the
family. She is a unique and eccentric woman who raises her only
daughter, Artie, to question the accepted realities of modern
life. Artie, played by Janice Creneti, rebels against her
mother's unconventional views by immersing herself in the safe and
structured world of scientific academia. She abandons her only
daughter Echo, played by Tara Leigh Moore, to be raised by Dorothea.
Echo struggles with her love for her grandmother, her yearning for
the love and acceptance of her mother, and the daunting task of reuniting
the family.

Is freedom attainable through eccentricity? Perhaps this off-beat comedy of the relationships between three generations of
brilliant Westbrook women has the answer.
This beautiful play by Lee Blessing explores the complex relationship
of three generations of intelligent, independent and unique woman. The
ties that bind a family are stretched as all three-woman fight against
society and each other for their independence. Their conflicts with and
their love for each other is brought to life on the stage by Lee
Blessing's elegant play.
