Charity Hope Valentine, a dance hall hostess still believes in true love…
despite the bad luck that seems to come her way. Working at the Fandango
Ballroom, Charity takes us on her adventures of bad relationships, seedy
night clubs, and the man who just might be the one. All while singing and
dancing and charming herself into our hearts.
Sweet Charity premiered in 1966 directed and choreographed by the
incomparable Bob Fosse, with music and lyrics by Cy Coleman and Dorothy
Fields, book by Neil Simon.
Nominated for 12 Tony Awards, it features classic Broadway songs such
as “Big Spender”, “If My Friends Could See Me Now”, “I Love to Cry at
Weddings”, “The Rhythm of Life” and other familiar tunes that will have you
singing as you leave the theater believing in the possibility of true love
despite the odds against it.
