Ever seen a sympathetic werewolf, a vampire and an Egyptian Princess in the same play?

That's what The Mystery of Irma Vep offers, and much more! A parody on every gaslight romance since Jane Eyre, this Charles Ludlam play  won the Obie and Drama Desk Awards in 1984, and is performed by two actors playing all 8 roles.

Time magazine called it "a true vaudeville tour de farce... wonderful"
The New York Daily News described it as "Inspired parody."
The New York Times raved, "Far and away the funniest two hours anywhere"

What do you get when you add equal parts Agatha Christie, Monster Mash and Marx brothers?  You get a hysterical evening of theatre destined to leave you breathless with laughter.

Lady Enid, the new bride of noted Egyptologist Lord Edgar, is having a hard time adjusting to life in Mandacrest Mansion.  The portrait of his previous wife, Irma Vep, is watching her every move, as are shifty servants and a mysterious stranger prowling the moors surrounding her home.

Produced by Gina Gabay
Directed by Bruce Follmer

About the director:
This is Bruce's second directing stint at ESP, the last being the WATCH-nominated Veronica's Room. He has directed some 30 plays for a number of local groups, including The Nerd (with Vienna Theatre Company and Dominion Stage), Lend Me a Tenor (Arlington Players), Noises Off (Dominion Stage), Our Town (Port City) and Sylvia, The Glass Menagerie, and, most recently, The Sunshine Boys at Springfield Community Theatre. Bruce, an occasional actor nowadays, also appeared in ESP's 1994 production of Kvetch.

Production Dates: March 25 - April 16, 2005
Auditions: January 22 & 23, 2005

Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc..
