Elden Street Players are proud to produce another Community Theatre
Premier!
Blood Brothers, the musical written by the author of Educating
Rita and Shirley Valentine, is a haunted rags to riches tragedy.
An impoverished woman with too many children to support surrenders one of
her newborn twins to her barren employer. The boys grow up streets
apart in this contemporary prince-and-pauper tale. One brother is
raised in privilege while the other remains in poverty. The pressures
of superstition, economics and class trap them both, sealing their fate --
their paths are destined to cross again in both friendship and anger with
the most tragic of consequences. As legend says "...if either twin
learns that he was one of a pair, they shall both immediately die."
Garnering 7 Tony nominations and winner of the 1983 Laurence Olivier
Award for best musical; Blood Brothers is a powerful and
moving story, with both lively and sad parts, that will capture your heart
and leave a lasting impression.
