Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  After attending the first show of the season, I want to subscribe.  How can I do that and get credit for the tickets I purchased?

A. Yes, you can still subscribe, but you will need to fill out a paper form.  Click on this link to open a subscription form that you can print, fill out and send in to Elden Street with your payment.  You may subtract the cost of your ticket purchase to the first show of the season, but you must include at least one of the following proofs of ticket purchase with your subscription order.

1.) If you made a ticket reservation, provide the name on the reservation and date of the performance you attended.
2.) Ticket Stub(s) from the performance.
3.) Copy of your credit card receipt paying for the tickets, that shows the amount paid and date of performance.

The subscription manager may contact you if there is any problem verifying your purchase/credit.

Q. Are there any benefits to ordering my season tickets online through Paypal?

A. There is no difference for Elden Street Players other than convenience and immediate billing to your credit card.  Our other processing options require one of our volunteers to process your payment as a batch with other subscriptions.

Q. Are there any drawbacks to ordering my season tickets online through Paypal?

A. If you already have a Paypal account and are familiar with the service, then you will not experience any drawbacks using this process.  If you are new to Paypal, you may want to consider registering as a Paypal account holder (although you should not have to).  Paypal may also ask for additional information (e.g. your credit card validation number - CCV) since it is an internet transaction.

Q. How does my money and my subscription information get from Paypal to Elden Street?

A. Your transaction will be e-mailed to our subscription administrators (but will not include any credit card information) and the money will be deposited in the ESP Paypal account until we request a transfer to our bank.

Q. Do I need a "paypal account" to make a payment to Elden Street?

A. No.  Paypal has the option to process your checkout without an account or login.

Q. Will I still get a receipt from Elden Street Players for my subscription and/or donation?

A. Yes.  Paypal will e-mail you a acknowledgement of your transaction and ESP will mail you a subscription/donation confirmation.  Our volunteer subscription manager processes these receipts as soon as possible.  Please allow up to 3-4 weeks for receipt delivery, since volunteer time may be limited.

Q. Why do I need to fill out "the subscriber names" and "email/telephone" fields?

A. Sometimes the subscription name, especially when purchasing multiple subscriptions, does not match the name on the credit card transaction.  When you call to make reservations on your subscription, we need the name(s) you are likely to use.  Your e-mail address will be added to our private list server to send you electronic reminders of upcoming productions (your e-mail will not be used for any information other than ESP notices and subscription information).  Your phone number will provide us an ability to contact you only in the event of a problem honoring a reservation for a particular production.

Q. What do you mean by "Best Phone Number"?

A. With the explosion of mobile phones, we are just asking that you provide us with the phone number that you consider the "best" for ESP contacting you regarding any reservation problems.

Q. How do I use a "Season Subscription" at Elden Street Players?

A. As a subscriber, you have pre-purchased tickets to all five main stage shows this season at a special discounted rate. However, while your tickets are paid for, it is still up to you to reserve tickets at the performances of your choice.

1. WATCH FOR THE POSTCARDS: The address you provided for your subscription will be added (or renewed) on our mailing list. Approximately 2 weeks to one month before each opening night you will receive a post card in the mail reminding you of the next production’s performance schedule and that reservations are being collected (typically reservations can be made up to 30 days prior to opening night).

2. MAKE RESERVATIONS EARLY: As soon as you know which performance you wish to attend, please call the box office (703) 481-5930 and leave a message with the date of the performance, your name (and the name on the subscriptions, if different), your subscription id # (from your ESP subscription receipt), your phone number(s) to reach you with problems or questions, how many tickets you are reserving (you only need to provide a credit card number if you need additional tickets beyond your subscriptions) and any special seating requirements (for our patrons with disabilities). The earlier you make reservations, the less likely the performance you wish to attend will be sold out. Early reservations are particularly encouraged for our musicals.

3. ARRIVE EARLY: We want our subscribers to have the best seats available. The house opens for general seating about 30 minutes prior to curtain. All performances begin at 8:00pm except on Sunday evenings which are at 7:00pm.

Q. Does a subscription include tickets to the ESP Theater for Young Audiences productions?

A. No, not at this time.  Tickets for the ESP Young Audiences productions are only $5 per seat with a separate box office staff.

Q. Is there a way to get a subscription or make a donation by mail?

A. Yes.  Click on this link to open a subscription form that you can print, fill out and send in to Elden Street with your payment.

Q. Can I order individual tickets or make reservations for each production online?

A. Unfortunately, no, not at this time.  We are still working on that.  The Paypal system does not allow us to add "free" items to a cart, so until we can accommodate our most important patrons ("our subscribers") to allow them to make reservations, we will have to remain with the phone ticket reservation system (703-481-5930).  We are evaluating different solutions to allow our patrons the most flexibility in making reservations (online, phone, and e-mail), but only the phone is currently available.

Q.  Why did Elden Street choose PayPal over other online ticket services?

A. Quite simply, cost.  ESP receives several solicitations from box office and ticket system vendors every month.    They are all very quick to point out that the cost to the ESP organization is "zero", but they are not free by any means.  Our patrons would pay a hefty fee for the service.  When buying a regular $15 ticket, we do not believe our patrons would appreciate paying an extra $1.50 to $3.00 per ticket just for the convenience of the online service, especially  when they can call the voicemail system for free.  Many of these systems would also force us to abandon our current system entirely in favor of the new system.  If we had a more complex box office problem, with reserved seating for a larger auditorium and multiple tiers of ticket pricing, we could perhaps see the benefit (and fee justification) to our patrons.  But we are not willing to effectively increase the cost of every ticket by 10% or more just to support a box office system.

Q. Have other questions about subscriptions that should be answered here?

A. E-mail the webmaster @ eldenstreetplayers.org.
